What you are looking for is symmetric. It's also small, but not in the background.

And searching "in verse" has a double meaning. If you haven't seen that, I have a negative feeling about your positivity.

They're spread throughout the book, in the various positions inside the rectangle. There's one in code 1, for example. You need to collect them all, and write them into that empty rectangle in the same positions.

So for example, I went to puzzle 3 and found the letter L in the box on that page. Am I on the right track? If so, I can't findcorresponding letters for puzzles 4, 8, 10, 7, 2 or 11 so I'm still very much confused. Thanks!

Here's an explanation of what the numbers refer to:

The numbers are position indicators, not puzzle indicators.

As you work your way through the book, you'll see unexplained individual letters in unexplained rectangular boxes, that have nothing directly to do with the puzzle they appear in. All those rectangles are identical in their proportions.

You'll find two rectangles with the same identical proportions at the top of this particular puzzle, one with numbers in and one that's empty.

The first thing you should do is fill in the empty one - ignore the one with numbers until you have filled the rectangle.

At first I thought it was the geometric design in the center of code 20. Then I thought it was the weird symbol thing that is scattered through the book, with an eye on it. The Kingdom of The States seal thing. But I don't know how to interpret the shading.

Please help!

It's a symbol that appears on a particular page earlier in the book - the exact same symbol, made up of the exact same pixel grid.

There are other pixel symbols on the same page, but only one matches.

Oh... but one thing... don't forget the 'in verse' requirement.

You're looking for 11 things throughout the book that are placed in exactly the same rectangle (apart from scale and rotation). In the non-kickstarter edition (that I think you have) they also match the typeface. Copy them all out into the blank rectangle, preserving their relative positions - this is the 'catch' step. If you're right it will spell a word. Then compare these with the numbering above to do the 'combine' step.

This is the trickiest puzzle in the book, I think.

So I got first word DECORATIONS that then changes to COORDINATES
Then I shaded pairs DC, EO, CO and so on.
What To do next?

I have completed step 1 "catch". I am unclear on what exactly I need to do to for step 2 "combine".  I have read the extra hints from the solve page but I still cannot seem to figure out what I need to do.

Have you read the '43 combine' and '43 more combine' hints too? I think the second of these hints pretty much tells you exactly what to do, but I'm happy to clarify if you've read it and it wasn't clear?

This is what you do after 'catching' the letters, to 'combine' with the numbers on the page:

Instead of numbering the letters in the word you have 'caught' as letter 1 = 3, letter 2 = 4, letter 3 = 9 etc, you need to just number them 1, 2, 3, etc and then write them out in the order shown. You'll have a different 11-letter word. So, since '3' is first, you write out letter 3. Then you write letter 4. And so on.  As you have shown, doing it the other way round doesn't produce a word.

I believe I have shaded the correct places on the graph (dc,eo,etc). And I know to look at the inverse. But I have gone through the book multiple times and cannot locate the symbol

Sounds like you have done everything correctly! If it helps, I think this is the toughest puzzle in the book.
